Assignment 5: Love themed Greeting Card

For this assignment, we are supposed to design a love themed greeting card. Being a hopeless romantic, i have totally no idea how to go about doing this assignment.

However, was browsing thru some photos and the idea of a silhouette struck me. Decided to go with the theme "holding on" for my first design.

here goes:

Version 1 - Front and Back

Version 1 - Inside

Once again, kena stuck after doing the first one.. cracked my brain and came up with the second one:

Version 2 - Front and Back

Version 2 - Inside

Comments from classmates:

the red one is too glaring. and they bought up a very important point: how is the cardgiver going to write on a dark red surface?

tat didnt cross my mind at all!!

for the second one, comments included the font being not too appropriate. also the yellow overall was too glaring. too much yellow is not good as it seeks too much attention and gives people an uneasy, "jaundice" feel.. wats more, the theme is "love"..

really got it hard from frens in terms of my color choice.. >_<

another friend suggested trying out motifs instead of a full colour.

well, i guess i will be incorporating elements from both my versions for my final artwork..

Assignment 4: Poster Design (final artwork)

Here's the final artwork presented in class:

Comments included: the texts were too small.. after putting it up and viewing it from a distance, it is indeed too small!!

Need to work on my body text next.. =)

Assignment 4: Poster Design

For this assignment, we're supposed to design a poster with the theme "save", "stop" or "prevent".

I decided to focus my work on saving the earth.

Started off by writing down keywords like: Global warming, temperature, deforestation, heat etc. And from these words, i tried to do some thumbnails of things that are related to these words.

Managed to scale down to the idea of inserting the thermomter into the earth, communicating the fact that our earth is heating up, "feverish" and "sick".

Global warming is eminent in our current context.

I proceeded to draw sketches on possible layouts of my poster. One of the elements used is "visual balance".

I also wanna create "depth" in my poster. So ended up adding stars of various brightness and sizes to create that "depth" perspective.

Here's a final prototype:

Assignment 3: U C WHAT I C (part 2)

here are the final photos!

Wanted to create the character with the "mission impossible" look. With the gadgets and shades.

Did the shoot with a 50mm prime lens and post-processed on photoshop.

Some comments from the class:

1. Would be better if i can stick to either all portrait or landscape.
2. Too much focus on the character on some pics.

Will definitely fine tune the images. Feel free to comment! =)

Assignment 3: U C WHAT I C (part 1)

Assignment 3 is a photo story. The challenge of this assignment is to create a photo story with a twist ending. Was not an easy task because it requires quite a lot of thinking and planning..

I started off by simply rattling on my sketch book any ideas that came to my mind:

the ideas were all rather ridiculous but finally decided on one, which was eventually storyboarded:

will post the actual photos next!
